If you’re one those people who thought you’d never see another Veils album, think again. The Veils are back, with a new album and new band members. The original formation made up of Adam Kinsella, Oli Drake, and Ben Woollacott, have been replaced by Sophy Burn and Liam Gerrard. The only thing that remains unchanged is Finn Andrews’ vocals and poetic lyrics. But a common thought hits fans due to all the changes, does this mean that the rest of the band members are interchangeable and that the Veils is simply, Finn Andrews? Despite the change, the band remains faithful to the sound that prevailed in the first album, melancholic and raw.
After much debate on the release of the new album, fans can finally rest assure that Lux Vomica will be out in stores by September. The release of the album is accompanied by an extensive tour that hits most European cities. After the cancellation of the March show in London, this is the band that has to make an effort to regain their faithful congregation.
What’s to expect of the new album? The Runaway Found was coined as the album of unrequited loves, while Nux Vomica has been termed by some as the album of lost loves. Either way, it’s certain that the tortured sound that we grew to love in the previous album is still present in the new album as well. Don’t be fooled by song titles such as Life is Sweet, the Veils still retain their prized ability of creating the sad songs that we love to sigh at with masochistic pleasure.
The most anticipated band has returned with the promise to blow us away once more.
