Never like before have fetish models acquired the popularity they now possess. Tired with the usual conventional beauties or the almost too-perfect-to-be-true supermodels that the Fashion designers impose on us, fetish models have become the new beauty icons of the past six years.
First begun as an underground movement in the late ‘90’s, today these unconventional beauties sporting piercings and graced with colourful tattoos are revered by the general public and musicians look up to them like muses. In 2001 Missy Suicide was the first to bring fetish models to the spotlight with her photos. Today similar sites exist by the many. One site that stands out would be RazorDolls.com. The site not only displays an extensive gallery of the pin-up beauties but is also furnished with hot videos and exclusive band interviews. Dolly Razor, the founder of RazorDolls.com explains the site in more detail.
Razor Dolls is a site that showcases the beauty of alternative girls, is it any different than the sites Gods Girls and Suicide Girls?
“Well we are different from those two sites firstly because we have hardcore videos. Also we feature a lot more rock bands and tattooers as well as underground artists. We also have an active community just like those sites.”
What inspired you to open a site like Razor Dolls?
“We wanted to do it better and our way. We saw the way all the newer sites were ripping everyone off and we thought we could do it better (than them).” (laughs)
It seems like Razor Dolls isn't only interested in showing off the beauty of girls but in a way attempts to broadcast the pin-up's personality, do you think that differentiates you from other mainstream pin-up sites like Playboy?
“The girls are people not cardboard cutouts, all airbrushed like in Playboy. They are your next door neighbor or the girl who works at the tattoo shop or bar in your town.”
Lately, fetish pin-up models have gained more popularity, what do you think of models like Dita Von Teese?
“Dita is cool. Fetish is cool. We love it all!! The atmosphere is very ripe for all aspects of this biz.”
More often than not, pin-up sites seem to always be linked with music or musicians, why do you think that is the case?
“It’s all subculture based. Rock, porn, subculture!!! Pin up girls gravitate towards musicians and vice versa.”
